The Billboard Music Awards' Touching Tribute to Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina accepted an award on her mother's behalf, but what you didn't see on TV was the drama going on between Houston's family and Ray J. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

It was the emotional high-point of the Billboard Music Awards—Jordin Sparks singing Whitney Houston's legendary song, "I Will Always Love You".

Sitting in the audience was Whitney's 19-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, wiping away her tears.

Bobbi Kristina sang along, and by the end of the performance she was on her feet, giving Sparks a standing ovation.

But everyone was floored by what happened next.

"Miss Bobbi Kristina!" announced Whoopi Goldberg.

The teenager took the stage on the arm of her boyfriend and adopted brother, Nick Gordon to accept the Millennium Award honoring her late mother. She even wore a photo of her mom pinned to her dress. Accompanying her was her aunt, Patricia Houston, who was with Whitney the night she died.

"I just really want to say thank you, to everyone who supported us through it all. Not just from when it was good, but when it was bad. Thank you for everything, thank you so much for showing that much love. Because she deserved it," said Bobbi Kristina.

As Bobbi Kristina gave her touching tribute to her mother, there was a behind-the-scenes drama being played out that viewers at home never saw.

Patricia Houston ordered a security team to have Ray J physically removed from his seat.

A source close to Ray J says he was "very upset" and refused to budge.

Patricia relented because she "didn't want to create a scene," and the tribute went on.

The talk on the red carpet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas was all about Whitney's daughter.

INSIDE EDITION spoke with Ray J's sister Brandy, who said "This is such a blessing for her, Bobbi Kristina, to be able to share this moment with everybody who loves her mom."

Miley Cyrus also made news last night—the 19-year-old looked like she forgot her pants! She wore a white tuxedo jacket with a very daring neckline.

But it was that moment when Whitney's daughter sang along to her mother's music that touched the nation.
