Tom and Katie Put Suri's Interests First

INSIDE EDITION is learning more about the school Katie Holmes has selected for Suri as Tom Cruise begins house hunting on the East Coast to be closer to his daughter.
Suri Cruise cried her eyes out and Katie Holmes looked annoyed as they left the posh New York restaurant Nobu where they had dinner at around 9 p.m.
Despite Suri's tantrum, Holmes is said to be "blissfully happy" since her split with Tom Cruise. And she's getting Suri ready to start school.
Suri is set to start first grade at Avenues. It's a brand new school in Manhattan opening it's doors this fall, and it's very pricey, tuition costs $40,000-a-year.
People magazine staff writer, Kristen Mascia told INSIDE EDITION, "Katie felt it was really important to enroll Suri in that it would be a stable environment."
On its website, Avenues, also known as "The World School", bills itself as "An international school with a global learning perspective." Religion is not part of the curriculum, so there won't be any conflict between Holmes' Catholicism and Cruise's Scientology beliefs.
Mascia said, "It's non denominational, which could possibly mean Tom and Katie struck a compromise about Suri's education. A lot has been made of Tom's faith, this could have been a good middle ground for both of them."
People magazine, on stands Friday, reported that Cruise and Holmes have worked out a "civilized" relationship with Suri's best interests as their top priority.
"They are in contact. They are making sure that Suri is happy and taken care for and loved, which is their ultimate priority," Mascia said.
Meanwhile, Cruise is shopping for a home on the East Coast so he can be closer to his daughter. He reportedly looked at a spectacular estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, once owned by Mel Gibson. The old mill estate includes a 15,800 square foot Tudor-style house and is currently listed for a whopping $32 million. The estate includes 75-acres of property, plenty of room for father/daughter play dates.
