O.J. Simpson Prosecutor Claims Simpson's Defense Team Tampered With Evidence
Famed attorney Shawn Holley shares her outrage with INSIDE EDITION over claims that her former boss, Johnnie Cochran tampered with evidence in the OJ Simpson trial.
Famed attorney Shawn Holley is blasting stunning new allegations that her ex-boss Johnnie Cochran tampered with the famous bloody gloves during the OJ Simpson trial.
Holley told INSIDE EDITION, "I am so outraged. I am so angry."
The uproar broke out after Christopher Darden, who prosecuted Simpson, along with Marcia Clark, claimed Johnnie Cochran used underhanded tactics to make it look like the gloves didn't fit Simpson.
"I think Johnnie tore the lining. There were some additional tears in the lining so that OJ's fingers couldn't go all the way up into the glove. What I think happened is that the defense manipulated that glove so that it did not appear to look as if it fit."
The fact that Simpson could barely get the gloves on was a pivotal moment in his 1995 trial and led to the famous line from Cochran, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."
Simpson was cleared of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
Cochran died of cancer in 2005.
Darden made his controversial new accusation as he was appearing on a panel at a New York law school. Ron Goldman's father, Fred and sister Kim were also on the panel.
Shawn Holley, best known now as Lindsay Lohan's attorney, was a young member of the Simpson defense team during the trial.
She told Inside Edition that she's furious at Darden's suggestion that the evidence had been tampered with.
"Johnnie is not here to defend himself, so I'm here because I was there that day and it didn't happen, and that he would say it is an outrage," said Holley.
"Chris Darden obviously cannot get over the fact that he made the biggest blunder in American jurisprudence. It was he who decided to have OJ try on the glove, obviously with disastrous results for the prosecution team," said Holley.
