After Nicki Minaj reportedly threatened to shoot Mariah Carey on the set of American Idol, Mariah has hired extra security. Nicki denies threatening Mariah. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Is Nicki Minaj about to be fired?
That's the bombshell new report from People magazine. A source at American Idol said Minaj’s job is on the chopping block after Mariah Carey told Barbara Walters that she fears for her life.
“She said that when Nicki walked off the set multiple people heard Nicki say, ‘If I had a gun, I would shoot the [expletive] bitch,” said Walters on Thursday’s episode of The View.
People magazine quoted the source as saying, "[Producers] are talking about firing Nicki. That is still up for debate. They are worried about how she will act during live shows."
People reporter Carlos Greer told INSIDE EDITION, "Fox has not commented on Nicki's fate. It is unknown if she is going to be fired or not, but there have been meetings. This is a concern. What if she has this loud irrational outburst when American Idol goes live?"
Carey is responding to the alleged threats by being surrounded by a police escort and burly body guards, one holding an umbrella, leaving an American Idol photo shoot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Thursday.
"I Fear For My Kids" screamed the cover of the New York Daily News on Friday.
Now, people are asking if the feud between the dueling divas will help or hurt American Idol's sagging ratings.
INSIDE EDITION asked E! News correspondent, Alicia Quarles about the situation.
Quarles told INSIDE EDITION, "When you have a feud that starts early on, and come above it and they come back to the heart of the show, which is just helping young talent, it won't be a problem. However, if you have these two women going off on each other every single week, yeah, it hurts the show."
The Voice judge, Cee Lo Green is calling the cat fight a fake saying, "This is Hollywood, California. Hardly anything is legit."
Quarles disagrees, "I don't think this is a ratings stunt. These are two divas, if you want to use that term, that have just clashed heads."
And, Mariah Carey's husband, Nick Cannon, is also speaking out.
“My wife's not moved by any of the theatrics or pageantry. She's there to do her job, to help young people on this show that we've grown to love,” said Cannon.
Minaj denies making any death threats to Carey.
