Former Bengals Cheerleader Pleads Guilty to Having Sex With Student
The former NFL cheerleader who denied she had sex with a student is now changing her plea and says she is guilty. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
The Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader accused of having illicit sex with a teenage student left court holding hands with her victim.
Sarah Jones was a 27-year-old high school teacher and captain of the Bengals cheerleading squad.
Her voice cracked with emotion as she confessed in court to having an affair with the student, who is now 18.
She showed up at the courthouse in Covington, Kentucky, outside Cincinnati with her victim and left minutes later after pleading guilty still holding his hand. Jones was sentenced to two years in prison, but she won't serve a day behind bars as long as she completes five years probation.
Her mother, a middle school principal, pled guilty to tampering with evidence in exchange for no jail time.
Defense attorney Eric Deters said, "Sarah risked the conviction of a felony, and it is just like anything, it's like 'Why take the risk?'"
The affair began in February 2011. That June she married her high school sweetheart, but they split up within six weeks because of rumors about her affair with the underage student.
Her former husband, Nathan Wilburn told INSIDE EDITION, "It's all I pretty much thought about. I still think about it now."
INSIDE EDITION's Paul Boyd asked, "You found you weren't able to trust her?"
"Yeah, I wanted her to tell me why people were saying these things," he said.
Now, the student is an adult and the pair made a point of flaunting their friendship leaving court.
