Home Invader Shot After Allegedly Being Drugged At College Party

A college student is lucky to be alive after a strange incident in which she wandered into a stranger’s home and was shot. INSIDE EDITION explains.

It was a frantic 911 call from Doreen Justice whose husband, Timothy, had just shot a home invader.

Doreen: She walked into our bedroom, and we shot her.

911 operator: Ok. You shot the subject that came in?

Doreen: Yes! Yes!

But this was no ordinary intruder. She was a sweet, pretty, 21-year-old University of Colorado student.

Zoey Ripple said she was given a date rape drug at a college party, and wandered into a wealthy couple's spectacular $2 million home in Boulder, Colorado.

She was standing at the foot of the bed when she was shot in the hip by Timothy.

Doreen told the 911 operator, “We were in bed and she just walked, she came in, and we started screaming at her to leave and she kept coming in. She seems kind of stoned or something."

As she lay wounded, Doreen asked Ripple, “Why did you just walk into our home when we were screaming at you to get out?

Ripple said she remembers nothing. She had three times the legal limit for alcohol in her blood, and she claims her drink was spiked with a date rape drug.

She pled guilty to criminal trespass yesterday, and was given a deferred sentence.

“This has been an enormously traumatic incident, and I’m deeply sorry that it has been for the Justices as well," said Ripple.
