Donald Trump is facing harsh criticism across the country after announcing his “October Surprise,” and some of that criticism comes from his own friends. INSIDE EDITION.
Harsh words came from Barbara Walters about her friend Donald Trump and his so-called October surprise, "Donald, you're making a fool of yourself."
Trump said in his recent YouTube message, "I have a deal for the President."
"You're not hurting Obama, you're hurting Donald, and that hurts me, because you're a decent man. Stop it. Get off it, Donald," Walters said on The View.
Trump later tweeted, "Barbara, unfortunately you've missed the point of my announcement. You just don't get it."
Trump caused an uproar after he posted a video on YouTube in which he challenged President Obama to release his college records and passport in return for a $5 million charity donation.
“I don't believe he can refuse, and I hope he doesn't,” said Trump in his video.
But he's now being widely ridiculed over what is seen as a non-event.
“I think people are getting a little tired of Donald. Well, here show what happened," Jay Leno said on his late-night TV show. He then showed a spoof of Trump's original video, which mocked Trump by him being thrown out of a window in the middle of his big announcement.
David Letterman said, “Turned out to be a publicity stunt. I said to myself, ‘That's not the Donald Trump I know.’”
Trump has an appearance set for Thursday night for Letterman's show. INSIDE EDITION has learned that behind the scenes there was drama. Would Trump show up or would he cancel to avoid a grilling? In the end, Trump honored his commitment, and showed up as scheduled.
All over the airways, Trump is facing criticism.
“I've known Donald a long time. He's been my landlord, we've been friends. I'm kind of repulsed by him. I'm going to call it like I see it, and if it ends my friendship with Donald, it ends it. It's wrong.” said Donny Deutsch on the Today show.
Trump stuck to his guns when Piers Morgan asked him about the controversy.
Morgan asked, "Have you been getting a bit of a kicking since your announcement? People are racing to condemn it as a cheap publicity stunt."
"Well not condemn it. I mean, I've had tremendous praise for the most part. I don't think condemn is the word. I think the opposite is the word," said Trump.
Meanwhile, Sarah Palin is being blasted for writing on her Facebook page that the President is using a, "Shuck and jive shtick," over allegations that his administration tried to mislead the American people about the deadly attack on the American consulate in Libya.
Ed Schultz said to Michael Eric Dyson on The Ed Show, "Using the term 'shuck and jive,' break it down for us."
"This is an unmistakable racial reference," said Dyson.
Palin responded on Facebook, "For the record, there was nothing remotely racist in my use of the phrase. I've been known to use the phrase most often when chastising my daughter, Piper, to stop procrastinating and do her homework."
Palin also pointed out that White House spokesman Jay Carney used the same phrase in a 2011 briefing when he said, "Time to shuck and jive."
"Uh oh, Jay Carney is a racist too," tweeted Palin.
