Top Secret iPhone Secret No More

Apple is known for keeping their new gadgets top secret. When details of the new iPhone were leaked on the internet, even CEO Steve Jobs stepped in to stop it. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

It's the top-secret cell phone at the center of a mystery.

The prototype next generation iPhone wasn't supposed to be made public for months, but its now been leaked on the internet for all the world to see.

It was found in, of all places, a bar in Redwood City, California, and the question everyone is asking is, was it lost by accident or is this just one big publicity stunt?

Meredith Vieira said on the Today Show, "Maybe they meant to leave it. Maybe it was a publicity stunt."

George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America said, "Some people are wondering if Apple actually planted it."

The new iPhone is one of Apple's most highly anticipated products. And the company is renowned for keeping everything it does top secret. So what happened this time?

Jesus Diaz of the website told INSIDE EDITION's Paul Boyd they paid five-thousand dollars to an unidentified guy who says he found the secret iPhone last month on a barstool at Gourmet Haus Staudt in the heart of Silicon Valley. says the Apple software engineer who apparently lost the phone is Gray Powell, who was celebrating his 27th birthday.

They say he even texted, "I underestimated how good German beer is," before leaving the iPhone behind.

When Apple found out what happened it sent a legal letter to making "a formal request that you return the device to Apple."

There's even a published report that Apple C.E.O. Steve Jobs himself called to get the iPhone back. The website did return the iPhone, but not before leaking all the new features for one of the technology world's hottest products.

Boyd said to Diaz, "You know that there are people who believe that all of this is one big publicity stunt."

"It's impossible," replied Diaz.
