First Daughters Sasha and Malia Growing Up Before America's Eyes
The nation first saw them as adorable school girls—now Sasha and Malia Obama are becoming beautiful young ladies. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
The first daughters are growing up before our eyes.
President Obama said at the podium, "Sasha and Malia, you are growing up to become two smart, beautiful young women, just your mom."
When Sasha and Malia joined mom and dad onstage for the big victory speech last night, they looked like stylish young ladies. Now that they'll be living in the White House for the next four years, we'll see them grow into the full bloom of teenage-hood in the public eye.
What a change from the little girls we met when dad won the presidency in 2008 when President Obama said in his victory speech, "Sasha and Malia, you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House."
Back then, Sasha and Malia were little school girls who wore dresses color-coordinated with mom. A lot has changed since then.
Last night, President Obama said in his victory speech, "I will say that for now, one dog is probably enough."
Today, they have a fashion sense all their own. Sasha wore a green A-line skirt and gray top with a cute bow detail. Malia paired a blue skirt, with a black boat-neck top and a pink belt.
Sasha is now 11, and she'll be a teenager by the time dad finishes his second term as president. And Malia, who is now 14, will be heading off to college before dad's presidency comes to an end.
Psychologist Jeff Gardere told INSIDE EDITION, "Certainly President Obama and Michelle Obama have done their best to normalize their lives as much as possible. So I think that the Obama parents need to continue to follow that winning formula of raising their daughters."
The first lady looked elegant in a magenta-colored Michael Kors dress, and a vintage brooch. She topped the look with a black sweater to ward off the chilly Chicago night air.
Michelle choose the dress at the last minute. It's a dress she's worn twice before at White House events.
The pride she feels for her husband was evident in her eyes as she cuddled with him onstage following his victory speech. The president kept a possessive arm snuggled around her waist. It was a very special moment.
In his speech, the president said, "Michelle, I have never loved you more."
