Abandoned Baby Chloe Sparks Search For Parents

A forensic artist was brought in by police in an effort to track down the parents who abandoned a baby girl. INSIDE EDITION reports.

A precious baby girl with an easy smile is missing her parents. You'd never know she's already survived a heartbreaking start to life.

The newborn was found abandoned at an apartment complex outside Houston. A woman walking a dog found her wriggling in a plastic Wal-Mart bag.

Doctors named her Chloe and now the hunt is on for baby Chloe's parents. Artist renderings by Lois Gibson, the renowned forensic artist for the Houston police, portray images of what Chloe’s parents might look like. Like everyone who's seen baby Chloe, Lois was drawn to her beautiful little face.

Gibson said, "All of us mommies know that babies don’t usually smile at three-days-old. So she’s smiling a lot during the news conference. So that tells me that the nature of that baby, which the parents would have, is to smile readily and often."

Gibson used the slightly open-mouth smile as her starting point to create the images of what Chloe's parents might look like.

Gibson said, “You have the same eye-opening shape and you have the same nostril shapes. The nose just elongates.”

In Gibson’s renderings, Chloe's baby features evolve into two adults with thick, dark hair, deep gray eyes, rosy cheeks and strong chins.

Gibson said "I think I got a 50-50 chance that she looks like her a lot like either the daddy or the mommy."

There's one more clue in the hunt for baby Chloe's parents. Chloe was born with a unique genetic signature - a rare single tooth that may run in Chloe's family.

She said, "That's maybe 1 in 2,000 people."

Gibson has an impressive track record. She's "the world's most successful forensic artist" in the Guinness Book of Records because her sketches have led to the arrests of more than 1,000 felons. This time, she hopes her work will help a baby girl who needs a mom and dad.

Gibson said, "My job is to help Chloe find a good home."

Anyone with information in the Baby Chloe case is urged to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children Unit at 713-830-3250, or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
