Michelle Obama Stands Up To Heckler
Michelle Obama's reaction to a heckler at a fundraiser has sparked debate. INSIDE EDITION has more."
It's a rare face-off between First Lady Michelle Obama and a heckler.
The First Lady was speaking at a Democratic National Committee event last night when a gay rights activist shouted at her.
You can hear Michelle responding to the heckler, saying, "Wait, wait. One of the things I...one of the things that I don't do well is this."
An audio recording from the Washington DC affair captures the crowd cheering Michelle on as she left the podium and walked right up to the female protester, who later said, "It felt like the first lady was within a few inches in my face."
Then Michelle really let it rip, saying, “Listen to me or you can take the mic, but I’m leaving. You all decide. You have one choice."
Well, the audience chose Michelle, begging her to stay.
The protester, Ellen Sturtz, was escorted out, and the First Lady continued her speech.
Now a debate is raging over whether Michelle should have taken on the heckler:
President Obama clashes with hecklers all the time but he handles them differently than his wife did.
Two weeks ago, a heckler repeatedly interrupted a major national security speech. The president waited for her to stop and even acknowledged her position saying, "The voice of that women, is worth paying attention to."
But he has often said how much he loves his wife's fiery personality so he's no doubt supporting Michelle after her heated confrontation.
