Lil Wayne—under fire.
The rapper is sparking outrage over a video of him dancing on the American flag.
It happened while he was shooting a music video for his new song, "God Bless Amerika" in his hometown of New Orleans. The Stars and Stripes fall to the ground and Lil Wayne proceeds to trample on top of it as he raps.
"Stomping on the American flag? I mean c'mon man!" wrote one Twitter user.
"It is the American flag that is draped across the coffins of our fallen heroes. It's entitled to the highest respect," wrote the spokesman for the American Legion.
Now, the hip hop artist is responding to his critics, tweeting: "I didn't step on the flag on purpose! It's a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop it's just there as I perform."
