Gary Coleman's Parents Demand Answers
Gary Coleman's estranged parents want answers regarding the circumstances surrounding the former child star's death. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Gary Coleman's parents want answers about his shocking death. Sue and Willie Coleman say they are "concerned" about his final hours.
Coleman died of a brain hemorrhage last week after an accidental fall at his home in Utah.
His mom and dad had been estranged from their son for two decades, but even so, they kept an empty seat for him at dinner.
"No one sits in that chair," Willie said.
Photos of their son cover the walls of their home in Illinois.
Sue Coleman told People magazine, "We're not pointing fingers at anyone but we need to know exactly what happened. Did our son fall down the stairs? Did he fall in the bathtub?"
Police in Santaquin, Utah, near Provo, say there is nothing suspicious about Coleman's death.
Coleman's parents, who adopted him when he was an infant, are also upset they did not get to see their son before he died. They say they tried in vain to reach his wife, Shannon, when they first heard he was in the hospital.
"We would have loved to have been there by his side at the hospital to let him know we love him before he passed away," they told People. "We're going to miss him."
Coleman actually sued his parents in 1989, alleging they had stolen a chunk of his fortune. They always denied his claims. In an interview with INSIDE EDITION in 1999, his mom summed up their feelings.
"He can never make me stop loving him, he is still my baby," Sue said.
Coleman's brother-in-law says the family has been overwhelmed by fans' reaction to his death.
"Thousands of e-mails have poured into the hospital. This has been so comforting to the family to know how beloved he still is," he said.
