It was chaos at one of America's busiest airports as gunfire erupted inside LAX. INSIDE EDITION has the details.
Chaos at LAX as gunfire broke out in the nation's third busiest airport, leaving a TSA agent dead and several wounded.
The images were terrifying as passengers were scrambling for cover. A TSA agent was photographed appeared to have been shot in the arm, and a victim was being loaded into an ambulance on the tarmac, while another was being helped to safety in a wheelchair.
Police transmissions warned of a man armed with a high-powered rifle.
A police spokesperson said, "This individual was shooting as he went into the terminal. The officers didn't hesitate, I repeat, they did not hesitate. They confronted this individual in our airport."
Witnesses filled the airwaves with vivid descriptions of the terrifying shootout.
One witness told FOX News, "All of a sudden we heard the shots and we just all fell on the floor and on top of each other. It was like a dream, it wasn't real, it was like a movie. So intense."
White House spokesman Jay Carney said that the president was immediately informed of the shooting.
Carney said, "He will be regularly updated on unfolding events there."
Singer Nick Jonas tweeted while stuck on the tarmac: "Currently waiting on the plane in a remote parking area. I am safe. Praying for the victims of this shooting."
Photos were posted by the host of TV's Mythbusters, Tory Belleci. Bachelor host Chris Harrison was also caught up in the chaos and tweeted praise for the police response to the shooting. He tweeted: "Incredible response by LAPD & airport authority. This place was locked tight w precision quickly. God bless first responders!"
The shooter was reportedly shot and wounded and is now in police custody.
