Family Guy Kills Off Major Character

Fans are shocked over Family Guy creators killing off Brian the dog, and have started a petition to bring the alcohol-drinking dog back. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

It's the death scene that has Family Guy fans in a state of shock and disbelief as Brian the dog breathes his last breath, saying, "You've given me a wonderful life. I love you all."

The doctor character said, "I'm sorry, he's gone."

What? We thought this show was supposed to be funny. So what's the deal with that lovable smart-aleck dog getting run down by a car?

CNN reported, "It's tough! You don't know whether to laugh or cry!"

"'Family Guy' Shocks Fans With Death Of Major Character," says the headline of the New York Daily News.

Check out this petition on change.org: "Bring Brian Griffin back to Family Guy!" So far, it's collected more than 35,000 signatures.

And more than half-a-million mourners have checked in on the Family Guy Facebook page, saying:.

"We need Brian!"

"Brian should never have been killed off!"

Brian's replacement is Vinny the dog voiced by Tony Sirico best known for his role as Paulie Walnuts on The Sopranos, a show where the characters died off with great regularity.

This isn't the first time we've seen a cartoon character die off. Fans of The Simpsons were shocked when Ned Flanders' wife, Maude fell to her death at the racetrack.

Some suspect that Seth MacFarlane, the voice of Brian and the creator of Family Guy, has a secret  plan to bring Brian back.

Meanwhile, Family Guy fans mourn for a cartoon dog who was never alive in the first place. That's show biz.
