Maria Kang, aka 'Hot Mom' is speaking her mind about plus-size women wearing lingerie. INSIDE EDITION talks to Kang and the women who aren't ashamed of their size.
She's at it again. The "hot mom" who enraged women everywhere by asking, 'What's your excuse for not having a perfect body?' is now taking on some curvy, confident gals, who posted their lingerie selfies for the world to see.
INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney Skyped with 32-year-old Maria Kang today.
Kang said, "It was women who were posing in lingerie who were overweight and nearly obese."
McInerney asked Kang, "Some people say, who asked you? What gives you the right to judge others?"
"I'm absolutely not judging others. But I come from a place of empathy," replied Kang.
It started when Maria Kang read about a Facebook campaign for a plus-size store called Curvy Girl Lingerie in San Jose, California. Women size 14 and up were asked to post sexy selfies to show that "rolls, bumps and lumps can be stunning and beautiful."
Kang told McInerney, "I think we are normalizing obesity in our society. I mean, we have a crisis. We have a $3 trillion healthcare crisis right now. Childhood obesity is on the rise."
The exercise-loving mother of three little boys from Sacramento posted this rant on Facebook: "We need to change this strange mentality we are breeding in the U.S. and start celebrating people who are a result of hard work, dedication and discipline."
The owner of the plus-size lingerie store told INSIDE EDITION, "Haters are my motivators. The more you hate on my lovely, beautiful, curvy customers, the more inspired I am every day to outfit them in sexy, beautiful lingerie."
When INSIDE EDITION visited the store, Lelilani de Nieva was picking up a bustier. She's a size 18. She told INSIDE EDITION, "It makes me feel feminine and confident. And it doesn't matter if I do it for myself or for who I'm with, it's because it makes me feel good."
So, what does Maria Kang think of curvy Amber Riley from glee winning Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night?
On the show, Riley said, "I want women of all sizes out there know, you can do whatever you put your mind to. It doesn't matter what size you are."
Kang responded, "She's a beautiful woman. I think that anybody who practices good nutrition and exercise, however their body manifests, is a beautiful thing. So, congrats to her."
