Mandela Memorial Sign Language Interpreter Was a Fake
It's been revealed that the sign language interpreter on stage at the Nelson Mandela memorial was a phony. INSIDE EDITION reports.
There's a shocking revelation of the sign language interpreter at the Nelson Mandela memorial service. The guy's a fake! The man was signaling pure gibberish. That's right—his hand signals meant absolutely nothing!
The news is sending shock waves around the world.
INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander spoke with former secret service agent and security consultant Dan Bongino, who says the security breach is a huge embarrassment.
Alexander asked, "How on earth was this man able to get through security and stand a few feet away from world leaders?"
Bongino said, "This is definitely embarrassing. What we would typically do at an event like this in the United States with our security template here, is we would pre-vet all of the vendors, the list of people you would use. The company, check the company and make sure it's a legitimate company. Make sure their people have no criminal records. And it seems to me that the South Africans just grabbed the first guy they could grab. They did no homework on it at all."
So, who is the hoaxster? His name is still unknown, but he's done it before. He made nonsensical hand gestures at an event last year.
There was an embarrassing faux pas on the Today show when a staffer was shown making senseless hand signals. Al Roker was really upset. Later, the show expressed regret about the joke.
The View also tried to find humor but, after a commercial break, Whoopi Goldberg apologized.
Meanwhile, there's another controversy from the Mandela memorial over images of first lady Michelle Obama supposedly scowling as President Obama snaps a selfie with Denmark's attractive blonde prime minister and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Conan O'Brien said on his show, "Some are saying that while at Mandela's memorial service, President Obama flirted with the female prime minister of Denmark right in front of Michelle Obama. If the president thought the flight to South Africa was long, can you imagine the flight home?"
Just look at the front page headlines: "Michelle's Beside Her Selfie Over Flirty Bam," says the New York Daily News. "Flirting With Dane-ger!" says the New York Post.
But, the photographer who snapped the series of photos is coming to Michelle's defense, stating: "Photos can lie. In reality, just a few seconds earlier the first lady was herself joking with those around her. Her stern look was captured by chance."
We spoke with lifestyle expert Harriette Cole who said, "I think it's absolutely ridiculous that she is being labeled as angry, or even worse, as jealous. She was paying attention to the service."
