The Good Morning America anchor returned to her seat after vacation, sharing her gratitude for her longtime girlfriend, Amber Laign. INSIDE EDITION has more.
Robin Roberts was back from vacation on Good Morning America today for the first time since revealing in a Facebook post that she is gay. She lost no time publicly acknowledging her partner of ten years, Amber Laign. She even showed a photo of Amber at the wedding of her niece, held over the holidays.
"Next to me is my girlfriend, Amber, and it was a glorious, glorious time," said Roberts.
Here's what we know about Amber. She's a massage therapist, originally from San Francisco, and she met Roberts through mutual friends.
"Robin, it was no surprise to any of us, but in your post you did tell everyone about Amber and your relationship and I hope that was a good experience for you," said George Stephanopoulos.
Roberts said, "I'm going to tell you all this because you know and you've had a front row seat through that tumultuous year I had. I have never been happier or healther than I am right now, and my year-end post was just full of gratitude and telling everyone all I'm grateful for, including my girlfriend Amber, who really loved me through a very difficult year."
On The View, there was nothing but support and good wishes for Robin. Barbara Walters said, "It's not just coming out. It's that you can come out and be accepted and not be judged, and that's one of the wonderful changes in this country."
