Mindy Kaling Defends 'Elle' Cover Photo

Mindy Kaling says she's happy with her Elle magazine cover, despite some saying it's 'fat-ist.' INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
There's a big controversy over the Elle magazine cover featuring actress Mindy Kaling, the star of The Mindy Project.
Kaling is one of four separate covers featuring TV's funny ladies. But Kaling's cover is the only one that's shot from the chest up. They cropped her curves.
The other covers of Amy Poehler, Allison Williams and Zooey Deschanel are in color and are pictured in full length, showing off their bodies. Some readers are wondering whether it's because Kaling isn't super-thin.
"It's fat-ist," says one. "You do not empower women Elle. You bring them down," says another.
But Mindy Kaling says she thinks the cover is great, stating, "I Iove my Elle magazine cover. It made me feel glamorous and cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on 13 dates with me."
