The accident happened when veteran TV reporter Sanders was reporting from the so-called loud music trial of Micheal Dunn, who was charged with opening fire on an SUV filled with four black teens.
Sanders was reporting from the loud music murder trial in Florida from 7:30 in the morning until 5:30 in the evening. He says the bright lights used in televison apparently malfunctioned, burning his corneas.
Sanders said the pain was excruciating and he couldn't see for 36 hours. Now, he's tweeting: "If you're a TV reporter who stands in front of a camera, take my experience as a warning."
Dr. Christopher Starr, Opthamologist at Weill Cornell Medical College told INSIDE EDITION, "When the eye becomes inflamed, and the cornea becomes inflamed, it swells up, the surface cells break down and all of that leads to a reduction in vision and clarity."
As it turns out what happened to Sanders is not an isolated event. Other reporters said they experienced the same ordeal, inlcuding NBC foreign correspondent Dawna Friesen.
Sanders said his doctor told him that he will regain all of his eyesight within a few weeks
Starr told INSIDE EDITION, "It's a very severe injury with damage to all three layers to the cornea and sometimes even the inside of the eye, it can take longer."
