O.J. Simpson's Ex-Girlfriend Could Have Been Mrs. O.J. Simpson
Twenty years after the O.J. Simpson trial, INSIDE EDITION reports on where his ex-girlfriend is today, who says she could have been the next Mrs. Simpson.
She's the Nicole Brown Simpson look-a-like O.J. Simpson hooked up with just a year after he was acquitted of murder.
Christie Prody was 21 at the time, Simpson was 46. They were together for 12 years until Simpson was sent to prison for armed robbery.
So, what does Christie Prody have to say now about her relationship with Simpson?
Prody told INSIDE EDITION, "I was young and so he could try to shape me, mold me into what he wanted."
She told us that life with Simpson could be unbearable because he was obsessed with Nicole.
"He did encourage me to color my hair. When I met him my hair was dark. He would constantly try to fix my hair if we were going out, and part on a certain side and comb it down. He would make comments like, 'This is how Nicole wore her hair.' I mean, I got so sick of it," said Prody.
After the makeover, she bore a striking resemblance to Simpson's slain wife.
"I just got tired of hearing and being compared all the time, and it's like I can't live up to the image of someone who's passed away," said Prody.
She says that towards the end of their relationship, Simpson actually started threatening her and she came to fear that she might suffer the same fate as Nicole.
Prody said, "He would say things to me like, 'You'd better watch out so something bad doesn't happen to you like Nicole.' "
So, where is Prody today? Two months after INSIDE EDITION's interview, she found herself behind bars. She was convicted of stealing prescription drugs. The years have not been kind to Prody. Her good looks were impacted by drug abuse.
Meanwhile, we're getting new insight today into what Simpson's life is like in prison. He's serving a 33 year sentence for armed robbery and kidnapping at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.
Norman Pardo, Simpson's former manager, says he spends his days working in the prison gym. Pardo told INSIDE EDITION, "He's depressed, but you'd be depressed too if you were put into a box."
Simpson suffers from bad knees and a bad back and can no longer play sports but he operates the scoreboard during prison basketball games.
He also watches a lot of television. The crime drama Person of Interest is his favorite. And he's reading the Game of Thrones book series.
Pardo said, "I think he's doing pretty good in there, all in all.
Simpson is up for parole in four years.
As for Christie Prody, she's due to be released in October.
