Shia LaBeouf Arrested After Public Meltdown
INSIDE EDITON reports on the bizarre moment when actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested and put in cuffs after spewing obscenities and interrupting a performance of Cabaret on Broadway.
Shia LaBeouf was surrounded as he left a Manhattan police precinct after spending the night in jail. The actor looked haggard, his blue t-shirt was ripped as he walked three blocks to his hotel.
LaBeouf ended up in police custody after disrupting a performance of the hit Broadway musical Cabaret, starring Alan Cumming and Michelle Williams.
Police say the trouble started during the first act of the show when theater-goers, who paid as much as $250 a ticket, say 28-year-old LaBeouf lit a cigarette in his seat, which is a big no-no in New York. He also allegedly acted drunk, slapped strangers on their backs, spouted obscenities, and generally acted like a jerk.
Police were called and LaBeouf was taken away during intermission. He was described as "incoherent" and "very agitated." At one point he "fell flat on his face."
"I have millions and millions of dollars and attorneys. I’m going to ruin your career." He reportedly yelled at one of the arresting officers.
One witness, who was just seats away during LaBeouf's meltdown, told INSIDE EDITION, "I noticed that he was a little belligerent and kind of loud. I noticed he was by himself."
Published reports say LaBeouf was so belligerent, cops even had to put a spit mask over his mouth to stop him from spitting at cops.
"(blank) you! I'll (blank) you up!" He allegedly shouted. He also uttered a gay slur at one cop.
It’s the latest incident in a string of bizarre behavior for the former child star who rocketed to fame in the Transformers movies. He also appeared opposite Michael Douglas in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
No one was quite sure what was going on when he showed up earlier this year at the Berlin Film Festival with a bag over his head that read: "I Am Not Famous Anymore." He then showed up at a news conference with a tooth missing and speaking gibberish, saying "When the seagulls follow the trawler it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much."
Now comes his most bizarre episode yet. LaBeouf was charged with criminal trespass harassment and disorderly conduct. He has pled not guilty.
