Abby Sunderland Finally Home Safe and Defends her Journey

INSIDE EDITION has the latest from 16-year-old Abby Sunderland's return home the U.S. after attempting to sail around the world alone.
Abby Sunderland is finally addressing her solo sail: "I'm really happy to be home, I'm very sad things didn't work out the way that I had planned in the beginning."
16-year-old Abby Sunderland is home safe and sound and speaking out about the criticism that she was too young to sail around the world alone.
"It's extremely hurtful and it's sad to see some of it, some of it I just can't believe that people would say something like that, to anybody," Sunderland said.
Her parents have come under fire for letting their daughter make the solo voyage because they wanted to pitch a reality TV show, a charge they deny.
"Initially we had been thinking about a reality TV show. Some people suggested it, it sounded like a good idea, things fell through, it didn't work out and there's going to be no reality TV show. There isn't going to be a documentary, I'm thinking of writing a book."
Abby spoke about her rescue two weeks ago when her sailboat was swamped by monster 3-story-tall waves in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
She flew home to California yesterday and was finally reunited with her family.
"I was terrified, I knew when I headed out for this trip that I was going to be testing myself and I was going to have to push myself to my limits," Sunderland said.
