Video Shows Retired Corrections Officer Shoot and Kill Man In New York Subway Station
He yelled, "I'm not your n------! I'm not your boy!"
There was rush hour chaos and panic in a downtown Brooklyn subway.
A witness captured shocking video of a physical altercation between a 32-year-old man seen on the left, and a hulking 69-year-old retired corrections officer. It ends with the the former officer pulling out a gun and firing.
The retired officer pulled the trigger, shooting the 32-year-old man in the stomach. Subway riders, heard the gun fire and ran for their lives.
The video was captured yesterday around 6:45 p.m. at the Borough Hall subway station.
Witnesses say the dispute started on the No. 5 train when the two men got into each others' faces. It degenerated into racial slurs, with the smaller man allegeldy using the "N" word.
The retired officer replied, "I'm not your n-----, I'm not your boy." "Leave me alone. Don't talk to me."
You can see the retired corrections officer, identified as Will Groomes walking down the steps in the subway as witnesses yell out to him, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!"
The video ends with Groomes approaching 32-year-old Gilbert Drogheo. They scuffle and Drogheo is shot, he later died at the hospital.
Subway riders are shocked.
A friend of the dead man, who cannot be seen in the video, was arrested. But the shooter, a licensed gun owner, has not been charged. The investigation is ongoing.
