A New Wooden Statue of President Trump Has Popped Up in Slovenia
It's not that flattering.
It's not quite flattering, but standing at more than 26 feet tall is a new statue of President Trump.
Wearing a blue suit and red tie, with a square head and jaw, the statue of the president has its fist raised into the air.
The hulking art installation is made of wood and towers over Slovenia, the home country of first lady Melania Trump.
Earlier this summer, a wooden statue of Melania was also unveiled there.
The owner of the land where the Trump statue was built says some locals were so confused by the structure, some of them actually mistook it for the Statue of Liberty.
The artist who created the statue, Tomaz Schlegl, told the AFP it is a commentary on populist politics.
"For the first time since World War II populism is prevailing: look at [British Prime Minister Boris] Johnson, look at Trump, our president, or [Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor] Orban. Where is this world heading?" he said. "We want to open people's eyes about what democracy is," Schlegl said.
There's also a mechanism inside the structure that changes the facial expression from friendly during the week, to scary over the weekend.
The statue will be up until Oct. 31.
