Backpacks for Everyone! Ohio Students Surprised With Bags Stuffed With Supplies
The kids had no idea what was in store for them.
Third-graders at a school in Columbus, Ohio, had a memorable first day of school after they were gifted backpacks.
The third-graders gathered for a special assembly earlier this week with local news anchors Matt Barnes and Monica Day from NBC4.
The kids were screaming with joy after Barnes and Day unveiled backpacks for each student filled with supplies that they need for the school year.
The station’s Stuff the Backpack campaign is aimed at giving every one of the 52,000 students in the Columbus City School District fully loaded new backpacks.
Volunteers spent hours filling the bags with notebooks, markers, scissors and pencils.
Inside Edition’s Deborah Norville made a special video message for the students.
“I hope you enjoy your new backpack and I hope you have a fabulous start to the new school year. Be brilliant!” she said.
