Britney Spears' Mom Taking Legal Steps Seeking a Bigger Role in Her Life
Lynne Spears wants to join her ex-husband, Jamie Spears, in overseeing their daughter's affairs.
There is new turmoil for Britney Spears as her mom, Lynne Spears, is taking legal steps to demand a bigger role in her troubled daughter's life.
At the moment, the singer’s father, Jamie Spears, is legally in charge of her affairs. But Britney’s mom, who is divorced from Jamie, said in court documents filed recently that it is in her daughter's "best interest" that she have a say as well.
Inside Edition’s Deborah Norville interviewed Lynne in 2008.
"I need to go ahead and set some of this straight," she told Norville.
Back then, she said the biggest misconception about her was that she was “a stage mom."
"The misconception is that I have pushed and pulled to put my children here," Lynne said.
The singer recently spent three weeks in a mental health facility, leading to the "Free Britney" movement as concern arose among her fans that she was being held against her will.
Over the weekend, the singer posted video of herself doing yoga, a well-known technique for dealing with stress.
But despite the impression she's at peace, today's legal moves are signaling lots of drama behind the scenes.
