California High School Student Body-Slams Police Officer During Football Game Brawl

The fight broke out during a Friday night football game in Southern California.

A high school resource officer was body-slammed to the ground by a 17-year-old student during a chaotic brawl at a football game, police said.

Video from the Friday night match up between Banning and Shadow Hills high schools shows a uniformed officer being picked up and thrown to the ground, falling backward with the student who is attacking him, Banning Police Det. Mike Bennett told KCBS-TV.

"The officer was hurt. It was a very scary situation for him," Bennett said. He did not elaborate on how the officer was injured.

The officer, who was not identified, was trying to break up a fight when he was body-slammed, Bennett said.

Police want to question people seen in the video who left the scene, he added.
