With College Dancing Video, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Finds New Fame After Smear Attempt
Video of the young congresswoman dancing was meant to smear her, but the attack backfired.
When a Twitter user posted video of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dancing during her time at Boston University in an attempt to smear her, the internet responded with joy instead.
"Here is America's favorite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is," read the tweet.
But the move backfired, with many charmed by Ocasio-Cortez's moves, a recreation of "The Breakfast Club" dance scene.
"Well, @AOC is officially done. She’ll never recover from the world seeing her... (watches video) ...dancing adorably and having fun with her friends in high school?" wrote actor Patton Oswalt.
The 29-year-old congresswoman got in on the fun herself, posting a video Friday showing herself dancing outside her new office, a day after she was sworn in.
"I hear the GOP thinks women dancing are scandalous," she wrote. "Wait till they find out Congresswomen dance too!"
