Couple Gets Married After Their Spouses Leave Them on Same Day

Brittany Wright met Tyler Tipps at a work conference in Seattle, Washington, in July 2017. She never expected what would come next.

Many would call the way a Texas bride met her husband nothing short of fate.

Brittany Wright, 36, agrees. Wright of Dallas said she met her husband while unknowingly on the brink of a divorce and apparently so was he.

Wright met Tyler Tipps of Oregon at a work conference in Seattle, Washington, in July 2017. She never expected what would come next.

“We instantly had gravitated to each other because of our personalities. It was strictly a friendship and really just opened up with each other,” Wright told InsideEdition.com. “We were both married and both in bad marriages and confided in each other because we both understood.”

They left the conference knowing they got along well but fully expecting to go back to their respective spouses. Wright said her husband at the time had been texting her all day and she received a final text message on the last day of the conference that read, “I want a divorce.”

On the same day, Wright said Tipps called with some shocking news as well.

“A couple hours later Tyler called and said, ‘My wife’s gone, she packed up all her stuff and left,’” Wright said. “I could hear he was just devastated. And I told him if it made him feel any better I am moving out when I get home.”

The two continued to build a friendship throughout the divorce process and both filed around the same time.

Their divorces were both finalized in January 2018. Tipps wasted no time after the divorce was finalized asking Wright to be his wife.

“I was more hesitant tell everybody because I had just gotten divorced. I felt terrified,” Wright said. “I thought people were going to judge me, but I knew that’s what I wanted.”

Just by chance, Tipps’ boss asked if he would transfer to a position in Dallas, where Wright lives, soon after the proposal.

“I was like this has to be a sign from God because we weren’t really talking about moving. We were just going to be engaged and do long distance for a while. This is something that just has to be meant to be,” Wright said.

The couple got married in September 2018 in a beautiful Riviera Maya ceremony captured by Del Sol Photography. Wright said she felt like it was her redemption.

“When I met Tyler I remember coming back from the weekend and telling my coworker that I met that man that I always going to marry,” Wright said. “For us it was timing, it was definitely not our plan. It was all good changes, but it really threw us for a loop because our whole entire world changed. It all changed for the better. We’re happily married.”
