Dozens Practice Yoga Along U.S.-Mexico Border to Symbolize Peace
The yoga class was at the border to promote unity and peace.
Dozens of Mexican yoga lovers took their class to the border wall in a symbolic gesture of unity.
"Today we crossed energy between Juarez and El Paso by taking part in a union and an encounter through yoga," said instructor Mauricio Rivera, referring to the Mexican and Texas cities across from each other on the banks of the Rio Grande.
"Objective is to invite families, so that families untie and to express ourselves in love by saying there are more of us who want a Juarez full of harmony, with prosperity and without walls," Rivera said.
President Trump ran his election campaign on a promise to build a wall along the country's southern border and continues to advocate erecting such a barrier as a way to combat illegal immigration. Opponents say the divider would only serve to intensify hatred and mistrust of minorities and migrants.
