Driver Caught Dangerously Barreling Through Traffic Said She Was Late for Work: Cops

Harrowing video showed her car come to a stop only once she collided with a telephone pole.

An Ohio driver was seen fleeing cops Monday — police say she told them she was late for work.

Imani Edwards was pulled over by Cleveland police for having tinted windows. But then she took off without warning, police say.

At one point, video shows that cops boxing her in and came come out with guns drawn. One officer tried to open her door and she barreled her way through, taking off again.

Edwards was then caught up to racing through a residential area, where authorities tried everything they could to get her to stop.

The chase finally came to an end when she collided into a telephone pole. She was arrested and charged with felonious assault and failure to comply.

The incident was caught on police dashcam video provided by the Newburgh Heights Police Department.

Chief John Majoy told Inside Edition he was pleased with how his officers handled the situation.

"You have a 2,000-pound weapon coming at you and these officers had their weapons drawn; it really would have been a shoot situation but we are glad they didn't," he said.

"They really showed tremendous restraint by not doing that."
