Drivers Who Kept Money That Spilled on New Jersey Highway Could Face Charges
The police department is now urging people to return the cash that fell from an armored Brink's truck.
Some drivers jumped from their cars to snatch money that flew out of Brink's trunk in New Jersey this week.
The cash spilled through the truck's malfunctioning rear door in East Rutherford Thursday.
Motorists hit the brakes when they saw it was raining money, and video captured by a witness shows drivers jumping from their cars and scooping up the bills.
The armored truck driver looked miserable as he did his best to retrieve the cash.
Police are urging everyone who kept the cash to give it back right away or face theft charges.
Over $10,000 has been returned as of Friday afternoon. Cops say anyone who returns the money will not be charged.
