Comedian Greg Giraldo Dies at 44

Comedian Greg Giraldo, dead at 44-years-old, is the latest celebrity to reportedly fall victim to a prescription drug overdose. INSIDE EDITION has the tragic story.

Comedian Greg Giraldo always went for the jugular, as he did during the Comedy Central roast of David Hasselhoff just six weeks ago.

"You're such a drunk, when alcohol does its taxes, it lists you as a dependent," joked Giraldo at the roast.

Now the entertainment world is in shock over the death of 44-year-old Giraldo, who died at a New Jersey hospital after a prescription drug overdose.

Giraldo was a graduate of Harvard law school but he gave up the law to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian.

When he took the stage in 2003 for the first of many appearances on late night TV, he was an instant hit with jokes like, "They say we're in the middle of an obesity epidemic. Look at the snack foods we eat. Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. We can't even wait for it to become a cookie."

But he was best known for his biting wit on those Comedy Central roasts, like the time he stuck it to both William Shatner and Betty White, with this one-liner, "Bill, you overact more than Betty White's bladder!"
