It was an embarrassing moment for Oscar®-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe.
"No one in Hollywood told me they wanted to see a movie about a 350-pound black girl that has HIV," said Lee Daniels, the director of Precious.
"She's not 350 pounds," Daniels said of Sidibe. "She's not 350 pounds, but in the book it says, in the book..."
Sidibe, who is nominated for a Best Actress Oscar®, shook her head at the insensitive remark as Daniels did his best to apologize.
It happened as Daniels was accepting an NAACP Image Award for his groundbreaking movie.
Sidibe also reportedly felt "snubbed" at not being asked to appear on the cover of the latest Vanity Fair magazine featuring Hollywood's hottest up-and-coming young actresses. Sidibe only appears inside the magazine.
But the talented newcomer continues to rack up accolades for her acting chops. She got her very own Image Award and delighted the crowd by smacking comedian Chris Rock's behind after he grabbed hers.
"It's so awesome to win. I love winning," Sidibe said as she claimed her Image Award.
