The disco queen herself, Donna Summer is gone. She died Thursday after a long battle with lung cancer.
The 70's icon believes she contracted the illness by inhaling toxic particles following the attacks on September 11th when she lived in Manhattan.
The five-time Grammy® winner rocketed to superstardom with her sexy, pulsating disco hits like "Last Dance."
Summer is the only person to ever guest-host American Bandstand. She had a little help from Dick Clark back in 1978. Three decades later, she served as a guest mentor on American Idol in 2010.
She was married twice and had three daughters, and four grandchildren.
Her family said in a statement: "We are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy."
Donna Summer, dead at 63. The end of a remarkable life.
