The movie Fifty Shades of Grey hasn't even opened yet, but it looks like it's going to be a blockbuster!
The controversial film about an erotic relationship between a college student and handsome tycoon is expected to gross more than $60 million when it opens over St. Valentine's Day weekend!
Paul Dergarabedian, a Senior Media Analyst at Rentrak says, "This is a box office monster, even before its released! Pre-sales are huge, everyone's talking about it."
Theatres across the country have already sold out, even in the South and Midwest - and each time a Fifty Shades film clip has been released, it's gone viral!
Dergarabedian said, "Fifty Shades was a big question mark. Everyone thought 'Well, this might be a flop.' But I think the gamble is going to pay off big."
But, is it a "date" movie?
Dergarabedian added, "Females are the main audience for the movie because that was the main audience for the book. But look, it's Valentine's weekend and women are going to get their guys to go see it with them."
Domestic violence groups are calling for the film to be boycotted, including The National Center on Sexual Exploitation, claiming: "Hollywood is advertising the Fifty Shades story as an erotic love affair, but it is really about sexual abuse and violence against women."
But insiders say this could actually help sell tickets!
"The overt sexuality of the movie has created controversy, but all that's going to do is increase the box office!" concluded Dergarabedian.
