Hawaii Kid, 11, Follows in Footsteps of Viral Walmart Yodeler With His Own Rendition
He has since gone viral on Twitter.
An 11-year-old is following in the footsteps of a young yodeler who went viral last month for showing off his skills in Walmart.
Gabriel Somera said he saw a video of Mason Ramsey, who is also 11, yodeling the classic “Lovesick Blues” in Walmart and wanted to try it himself. Ramsey's clip had racked up millions of views.
“I really like the song because Mason Ramsey inspired me,” Gabriel told InsideEdition.com. “I really the way he sang it too.”
Gabriel, who plays four instruments including the ukulele, said he was singing the song to himself one day when a friend asked to record him.
His friend then posted the video to Twitter where Somera has since gone viral as well.
“I was pretty surprised because I didn’t expect to get that many views and likes and retweets or anything,” Somera said.
Somera, who attends Damien Memorial School, said he is used to singing and playing, however. He hopes to be professional ukulele singer when he grows up.
