The "Roar" singer was in tears when she saw the former presidential candidate, who presented her with the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award.

"I've gotten to spend time with her and I know how deeply she cares about making our world a better place," Clinton said. "She is serious about understanding the complex problems we face and pulling people together to solve them. We need champions like Katy now more than ever, her passion, her energy and, yes, her voice, [is] louder than a lion.”

The emotional Perry, who has been an UNICEF ambassador since 2013, said: “I’ve always had a voice, a singing voice, but I've never had a voice like I've had before. Hillary has lit that voice inside of me, and that light will never go out, it will continue to get brighter and brighter and brighter. Thank you Hillary."

During the 2016 campaign, the singer often stumped for Clinton. During an October rally in Las Vegas, she said of the former secretary of state: “There’s no other alternative. We need our issues heard, we need our bodies taken care of, we need all that choice.”
