One video is certain to capture your heart. A dad gives his four-year-old daughter a rousing pep-talk as he drives her to the hospital to have a tumor removed from her abdomen.
Devon Still is a defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals football team. He posted the pep talk on Instagram with this message, "I might be nervous and scared beyond words but I’ll never let her see it...let's get this done!"
Little Leah was diagnosed with Stage Four Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer.
Her dad has been right by her side ever since she was diagnosed in June. In the hospital he was photographed sleeping on a cot next to Leah’s bed.
Devon regularly makes the trip from Cincinnati to Philadelphia’s world-renowned Children's Hospital for medical appointments.
In a video, Devon posted, “Just got off the plane, hasn’t seen my daughter in like two weeks. See how excited she is to see me. I know I’m excited to see her.” Little Leah ran through the airport to greet him.
Leah is also featured in the new music video "Truly Brave" by Cindy Lauper and Sara Bareillis.
Leah went under the knife on Thursday. Six hours later, Devon posted a photo Instagram, his daughter was asleep, still recovering.
INSIDE EDITION spoke to Leah’s mother, Channing Smythe.
She said, "She is groggy but she is good. She is letting us know when she is in pain. She is letting us know if anything is wrong. Other than that, she is up, watching TV, talking here and there, laughing."
Iyanla Vanzant is the host of the OWN television networks, Iyanla: Fix My Life, she says the story of Devon Still and little Leah is exactly what the NFL needs these days.
She said, “I think what Devon is doing is what father's are supposed to do. He's providing for his daughter, he's present for her, he's protecting her. This is a good thing.”
