Lucas Glover Attack: Did Golfer's Wife Krista Glover Attack Him Because He Played Badly?
Lucas Glover told authorities his wife argues with him when he plays a bad round of golf.
The wife of professional golfer Lucas Glover has been accused of attacking him for playing poorly during a televised tournament.
Krista Glover, 36, was arrested Saturday night in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest after allegedly refusing to get into the police car.
She's also accused of attacking her 62-year-old mother-in-law, who cops say was trying to break up the fight.
Krista Glover called 911, claiming it was her mother-in-law who started it.
"I've been attacked by my mother-in-law!" she told the dispatcher. "She’s in tears and locked herself in a room. She attacked us."
Shortly after the call, the 911 dispatcher called back and spoke with Lucas Glover.
"Yeah, hi," he said. "I think we got our wires crossed here... This is her husband, the sane one."
"OK, can you tell me what's going on there?" the dispatcher asked.
"My wife just called [inaudible] and now she's trying to blame it on my mother, which is not the case at all. My mother's the one [inaudible] and my wife is going crazy," he said.
When St. Johns County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they say they saw cuts on Lucas Glover's right arm and "multiple lacerations" on his mother, as well as blood on her clothes.
According to the incident report, he told authorities "when he plays a bad round of golf, Krista proceeds to start an altercation with him and telling him he is a loser."
Glover, a former U.S. Open champion, had just finished the third round at the Players Championship, where he shot a 78.
Krista was released Sunday on $2,500 bond and will appear in court on May 31.
Lucas Glover shared an update to Twitter.
"My wife and mother were involved in an argument to which the police were called," he wrote. "Everyone is fine. Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened and Krista will be cleared in this private matter."
The couple married in 2012 and they have two children, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.
