Man Asks Lottery Officials to Give Him Giant Check for $1 Win
He wanted to celebrate his win, no matter how small.
An Iowa man didn’t care how small his lottery win was. He wanted to commemorate the moment with a big check anyway.
Tyler Heep of Urbandale only won $1 from his scratch-off ticket but wanted to take home a giant check that is usually presented to big winners.
"I told them I'd like one of those big ceremonial checks as payment. I figured it would be worth a shot and they all thought it was really funny. I'm surprised nobody else has done this before," Heep wrote on Facebook alongside a photo with his check.
Lottery officials in Iowa agreed.
“They decided to treat me just like a million dollar winner,” Heep told NBC 13 News. “The guy came down the stairs and they took me into the back room where the camera was with the Iowa Lottery logo.”
Heep joked to the station that he’ll buy a half-gallon of gas with his winnings.
