Man Interviewed About Dead Body Is Arrested When It Turns Out to Be His Mother

Matthew Haverly was arrested not long after the interview.

A Pennsylvania man was arrested last week shortly after giving an interview about a body that was found in a creek.

The body, it turned out, was that of Matthew Haverly's mother, Patricia Haverly.

Following the interview with WNEP in which he hypothesized about gang hits — among other scenarios — Haverly was charged with homicide.

"It would be like a place where people from the city would want to put a body because most likely it wouldn't be found," he said.

During the interview, Haverly said he initially didn't know what authorities were doing in the waterway across from his home near Camptown Thursday.

"I'm like, 'What they hell is going on?'" he told the station. "And now I realize that's what they were actually doing. I had no clue. It's sad to say that that's someone's either daughter, mother or whatever."

On Friday, police revealed it was, in fact, a mother: Haverly's.

In the interview, Haverly even addressed his 60-year-old mother. "She would be concerned," he said.

Matthew Haverly is charged with murder and abusing a corpse.
