Beyoncé Responds to Criticism Over ‘Heated’ Lyric
August 1, 2022
Beyoncé is facing backlash over an offensive word in her song "Heated" from her new album, “Renaissance.” It's the word "Spazz," which has been used in a derogatory way to describe people with disabilities, especially cerebral palsy. Beyonce says in a statement, "The word, not used intentionally in a harmful way, will be replaced." Two months ago, the singer Lizzo faced criticism for using the same word in her new song “Grrrls," resulting in her removing the word from the song.
