Personal safety expert Bill Stanton says to make sure someone has your coordinates so they can track you and wear one earbud so you can hear what is coming. He also recommends carrying pepper spray if it's legal in your state. Stanton says to keep the spray in your weaker hand so your dominant hand is free to fight off an attacker.
