Why Lupita Nyong'o's ‘Spooky’ Voice in ‘Us’ Is Controversial

Actress Lupita Nyong’o is scaring the daylights out of people in the new horror flick “Us” and part of the reason is her creepy voice. The Oscar winner is getting praise for the performance, but that voice is creating backlash.  Nyong’o is revealing that to create a sense of dread she turned to a medical condition called spasmodic dysphonia, a neurological disorder that causes the voice box or larynx to involuntarily spasm. The revelation sparked concern among those who suffer from the disorder.
