Danielle Gelfand was buying a bottle of water at a newsstand in New York when the diamond from her engagement ring popped out. “I heard a clink, looked at it, and it was gone,” she said. The ring has sentimental value for Danielle. “My mother is a Holocaust survivor and it’s a ring that lived through two wars,” she said. Danielle tracked down the owner to get permission to move the fridge and after three days apart, was able to get her precious diamond back.
