Missing Florida Pit Bull Turns Up in Michigan

Homeward bound, the incredible journey.
Homeward bound, the incredible journey.
Blue the pit bull is from Florida, but she was found just north of Detroit, 1,500 miles away.
“I have no clue how she ended up here, as far as, like, in Michigan,” said Beth Wellman, the director of the Humane Society of Midland County.
“She was found as a stray, brought in here on Monday, and the person who brought her in said she found her on late Sunday," Wellman added.
Wellman said the 35-pound dog was found on the side of the road and reacted as a normal puppy would: lovingly and playfully.
To Wellman, Blue looked like she had been well cared for. A microchip led her to Blue’s owners, who said their pup had been missing for a week.
In that short amount of time, Wellman told USA Today it was unlikely she walked the whole way.
"Did a Good Samaritan find her, not know what to do with her, drive her up here and then she got away? I have no idea,” Wellman added. “Was it more nefarious? Who knows?”
The owners said they have never even been to Michigan.
