NFL Star Drops to His Knees in Emotional Moment as He Scores Dramatic Touchdown Hours After Son's Death

Marquise Goodwin was overcome with tears after scoring an 83-yard touchdown pass in the San Francisco 49ers' first win of the season.

It was a dramatic moment as Marquise Goodwin scored a touchdown to help the San Francisco 49ers capture their first victory of the season, but what fans and those watching at home didn't know was that the wide receiver had decided to play despite losing his son just hours earlier.

It was the heartbreak of losing the newborn earlier that day that caused Goodwin's eyes to flood with emotion after catching the 83-yard touchdown pass.

At about 4 a.m. Sunday, Goodwin's wife, Morgan, had to prematurely deliver their first born child due to complications. Sadly, the baby did not make it.

Goodwin posted a photo on Instagram of his hand touching the tiny fingers of his son as he praised his wife.

“...Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family. ??”

Right before reaching the end zone, the wide receiver appears to blow a kiss toward the sky before collapsing to his knees after crossing the goal line.

His teammates ran down to comfort him in the end zone as Goodwin kept his head was on the ground.

Goodwin posted the video on Instagram of his touchdown with praying hands and angel emojis.

Morgan posted on Instagram following her husband’s touchdown and the 49ers' 31-21 victory over the New York Giants:

“… Today, I had to deliver my precious baby boy early this morning due to preterm labor. Despite our loss, my hubby kept grinding, scored his son a touchdown & got our first “W” of the season. He had a wonderful game today…Our faith is strong.”

Goodwin and Morgan announced the pregnancy in September.
