Stylist Warns Alleged Fake Heiress Anna Sorokin Is Making Fashion Faux Pas in Court

Anna Sorokin has been seen sporting little black dresses, plunging necklines and choker necklaces in court.

She's on trial in a New York courtroom but she looks like she could be on the runway.

Anna Sorokin is accused of posing as an heiress and scamming people and businesses out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The 28-year-old was well-known among New York City's socialites between 2013 and 2017.

But now, Sorokin is accused of grand larceny and theft of services for up to $275,000, to which she has pleaded not guilty.

But it's not her extravagant past that had people talking as she appeared before a judge — it was her fancy court clothes. She was snapped in court wearing a form-fitting black dress with a plunging neckline and a choker necklace.

Stylist Dawnn Karen said her choice in fashion could backfire.

"The more sexy she appears to be, it hurts her," Karen told Inside Edition.

Sorokin even reportedly refused to enter the courtroom one day because the outfit she was given was not up to her standards. But her lawyer Todd Spodek said that reports that she has delayed the trial because of fashion are blown out of proportion.

He said, "It's not that she didn't want to come out only because of the clothes. She's going through a major criminal trial that's publicized every day."

He called the ordeal "emotional" for her, saying he "can understand where she's coming from."
